January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, when we shine a light on a crisis that has operated for too long in the shadows. In the United States alone, an estimated 14,500-17,500 people are trafficked by transnational drug cartels and criminal organizations each year.

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Emmer issued the following statement: 

"One year ago, we saw an unacceptable display of violence that runs counter to everything we stand for as a country. Those responsible for the violence must continue to be held accountable, and Congress must focus on providing our men and women in law enforcement around the Capitol - and across the nation - with the resources, training, and support they need to ensure something like this never happens again."

Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) announced his selection of the app Depression Revolution as winner of the Congressional App Challenge. The app was developed by Aryssa Trotter, a seventh-grader at Central Middle School in Norwood Young America.

Depression Revolution is designed to connect Minnesotans suffering from mental illness with resources to help.

Washington, D.C. – On the second anniversary of the tragic helicopter crash that took the lives of three Minnesota National Guardsmen, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) announced he will be introducing legislation to rename the Avon post office in honor of Army National Guard Warrant Officer Candidate Kort M. Plantenberg.


Representatives Jim Hagedorn (MN-01), Angie Craig (MN-02), Dean Phillips (MN-03), Betty McCollum (MN-04), Ilhan Omar (MN-05), Michelle Fischbach (MN-07), and Pete Stauber (MN-08) will be cosponsoring this legislation.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) introduced legislation to intensify the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) focus on helping women cope with the loss of a child during pregnancy. The Pregnancy Loss Mental Health Research Act directs the NIH to prioritize resources and research into clinical mental health complications following a pregnancy loss, including miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion.
