Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) sent a letter to President Biden urging action on rising fertilizer prices. The letter was co-led by Representatives Pete Stauber (MN-08), Michelle Fischbach (MN-07), Greg Murphy (NC-03) and Jodey Arrington (TX-19).

Emmer said, “Skyrocketing and unprecedented input prices are robbing our farmers of their livelihoods, and even today’s high commodity prices simply can’t keep pace. President Biden owes it to our ag community to ensure fertilizer is accessible and affordable.”

Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) announced his office will once again be accepting applications for the 2022 Congressional Art Competition, An Artistic Discovery.

Congressman Emmer said, “The Congressional Art Competition is a chance to celebrate the great talent exhibited by young artists in the Sixth District. I am always impressed by the excellent art we receive and look forward to seeing this year’s submissions!”

Washington, D.C.— Today, Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) introduced companion legislation to Representative Emmer’s (MN-06) bill prohibiting the Federal Reserve from issuing a central bank digital currency (CBDC) directly to individuals. Representative Tom Emmer first introduced this legislation on January 18, 2022.

Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Emmer announced his office will begin accepting applications for the seventh annual Young Women’s Leadership Program (YWLP). Eligible applicants include high school-aged girls in the Sixth Congressional District. 

Emmer said “Year after year, this program has connected present and future women leaders in the Sixth District. I am consistently impressed by the promise displayed by our participants and excited to welcome a new class to our Young Women’s Leadership Program.”

Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) announced his effort to support donations from the Sixth District’s Federal Ammunition to Ukraine.

The Anoka-based Vista Outdoor, which includes Federal, CCI, Remington and Speer ammunition brands, announced earlier this month that they were working to donate one million rounds of ammunition to Ukrainian forces. Congressman Emmer worked directly with Vista Outdoor and Federal Premium to prioritize and expedite the transfer within various federal agencies, including the Departments of State and Commerce.

Washington, D.C.— This week, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) announced that his Abby Honold Act was signed into law. The legislation will provide federal funding for law enforcement to receive training in evidence-based, trauma-informed care.

“Sexual assault is a life-shattering event, the trauma of which can be compounded by improper care,” said Emmer. “The Abby Honold Act will equip first responders with valuable healing tools and give a voice to survivors.”

Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) sent a bipartisan letter to Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler seeking clarity on the SEC’s information seeking process.

Emmer said, “Crypto startups must not be weighed down by extra-jurisdictional and burdensome reporting requirements. The SEC must ensure that its information-seeking requests to private crypto and blockchain firms are not overburdensome, unnecessary, and do not stifle innovation.”
