On January 22, 2025, the Laken Riley Act passed the House by a vote of 263-156, with 46 Democrats voting in favor, including the members' Minnesota colleague, Congresswoman Angie Craig (MN-02). President Donald Trump signed the Laken Riley Act into law on January 29, 2025.

Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach (R-Minn.), Congressman Brad Finstad (R-Minn.), and fourteen other U.S. House Republicans signed Stauber’s letter as well.
