CHANHASSEN, MN – Today, Congressman Tom Emmer hosted a roundtable discussion with firefighters and mayors in Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District to learn more about the challenges that fire services face and to share information about federal resources that can help with equipment, staffing, and training.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) introduced new legislation to reclaim local control by revoking a grandfathering clause that has allowed the Metropolitan (Met) Council to operate as the only Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) in the nation composed entirely of gubernatorial appointees without any local elected officials. Minnesota’s Met Council consists of Governor Walz’s appointees who routinely prioritize wasteful transit projects and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives over Minnesota’s actual infrastructure needs. The Reclaim Local Control Act will restore local control over Minnesota’s infrastructure dollars. Congressman Pete Stauber (MN-08), Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach (MN-07), and Congressman Brad Finstad (MN-01) are original cosponsors of Emmer’s bill.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) released a statement after funding was awarded to the Wright and Stearns County Sheriff’s Offices through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. Emmer supported funding for this program through the appropriations process. This program allows offices to tailor the funding to best fit their public safety needs.

Trump, Secretary Rubio, and Secretary Mullin, thanking them for their decisive leadership and commitment to making America a safer place by deporting a convicted child rapist, previously pardoned by the Walz administration.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) led the Minnesota Republican delegation in sending a letter to U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen regarding the alarming rise of Somali gang violence in Minnesota. Despite making up roughly 2% of the population in the Minneapolis-St Paul metro, Somalis account for at least 13% of the total gang population in that same area. The delegation is urging U.S. Attorney Rosen to continue his great work keeping Minnesota safe by holding these Somali gang members accountable for their crimes.
