Emmer and the Administration Receive Broad Support for Local Transportation Investments October 15, 2020 Otsego, MN - Today, Congressman Tom Emmer announced broad appreciation from local elected and appointed officials for the United States Department of Transportation’s investment in Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District. On June 15, Congressman Tom Emmer announced the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded Anoka County a $40,000,000 grant for the construction of two new grade-separated county highway overpasses of US Highway 10/169 and the parallel freight and commuter rail line. The project will address the ongoing concerns posed by the Ramsey Boulevard and Sunfish Lake Boulevard intersections, and includes new local frontage road connections. On September 10, Congressman Emmer announced the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded $15,000,000 for an infrastructure project in Anoka. The project will construct a replacement of the bridge over Rum River on U.S. Highway 10 as well as the replacement of an adjacent 4th Avenue bridge over U.S. Highway 10. The project also includes a reconfiguration of the U.S. Highway 10, Minnesota Highway 47, and U.S. 169 Interchange. "The Administration’s commitment to Minnesotans has been evident in their continuous support for our most vital infrastructure projects,” said Congressman Emmer. “Without their attention to our needs for improved safety and efficiency, these projects would not be possible. I have long advocated for improvements to Highway 10, and now those improvements are becoming a reality. I am grateful to Secretary Chao and the Department of Transportation’s focus on our roads and bridges." "It is wonderful that the Northwest Metro is finally getting these needed upgrades. Kudos to the leadership of the Emmer team and so many others who have worked on this for so long.” said State Senator Jim Abeler. "The safety and traffic concerns along Highway 10 have been a major concern for local legislators for some time,” said State Representative Peggy Scott. “We are grateful for Congressman Emmer’s efforts to secure this funding that will improve safety and provide a more efficient commute for those who travel this corridor." "I am grateful for Congressman Emmer’s leadership and the Trump Administration’s support for these critically important infrastructure projects that will improve safety for Anoka County motorists and help with overall traffic flow on Highway 10 and the north metro,” said State Representative John Heinrich. "I am honored to be on the State House Transportation Committee to advocate for important projects like these." "This $15 million was essential in moving this project forward, and we thank Rep. Emmer for his efforts in urging the U.S. Department of Transportation to allocate this funding,” said Scott Schulte, chair, Anoka County Board of Commissioners. “These integral interchanges and bridges in the City of Anoka will be much improved following the repairs and upgrades, in terms of safety and overall mobility.""Having roadways in our county that work for mitigating traffic impact and ensuring safety is a priority for the Anoka County Board of Commissioners, and this commitment is shared by Rep. Emmer,” said District 1 Anoka County Commissioner Matt Look. “This federal funding fills a critical gap and allows for timely completion of projects that will have a very positive regional impact for years to come." "I am extremely grateful for the news today that the US Trunk Highway 10 project in Ramsey will be receiving a $40-million-dollar grant to help complete this critical project," said Mayor of Ramsey John LeTourneau. "The cities of Ramsey and Anoka have worked diligently with Anoka County and the Minnesota Department of Transportation to make sure this vital transportation lifeline received funding. We want to thank Congressman Emmer for continuing to lead this fight for our residents and businesses of Anoka County and the surrounding region." ### Permalink: https://emmer.house.gov/2020/10/emmer-and-the-administration-receive-broad-support-for-local-transportation-investments
