Washington, D.C. - Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) today announced the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded Anoka County a $40,000,000 grant for the construction of two new grade-separated county highway overpasses of US Highway 10/169 and the parallel freight and commuter rail line. The project will address the ongoing concerns posed by the Ramsey Boulevard and Sunfish Lake Boulevard intersections, and includes new local frontage road connections.
"I am grateful to Secretary Chao and the Department of Transportation for their attention and investment in Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District. Highway 10 is a major artery in the Sixth District and has long-needed safety and infrastructure improvements. Since first joining Congress, I have advocated for this important project," said Emmer. "This funding will ensure safe and effective travel, improving commute times for Minnesotans as well as the movement of freight through the corridor. I am thrilled that the Administration is investing in Minnesota, and pleased to see this important funding go towards improvements in Anoka County and the City of Ramsey."
Overall, the Department of Transportation announced the allocation of more than $900 million dollars for the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) discretionary grant program.
"This Administration is focused on infrastructure improvements and this $906 million in federal funding would improve major highways, bridges, ports, and railroads across the country to better connect our communities, enhance safety, and support economic growth.” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao.
“We are grateful to the Department of Transportation for allocating this funding for this essential project,” said Anoka County Board Chair Commissioner Scott Schulte, “The City of Ramsey, the City of Anoka and the Anoka County Board have long advocated for this project and we were honored to have Representative Emmer as a partner in that effort. This will bring major improvements to our community and allow for safer transportation for all Minnesotans who use this corridor."
"I am extremely grateful for the news today that the US Trunk Highway 10 project in Ramsey will be receiving a $40-million-dollar grant to help complete this critical project,” said Mayor of Ramsey John LeTourneau, “The cities of Ramsey and Anoka have worked diligently with Anoka County and the Minnesota Department of Transportation to make sure this vital transportation lifeline received funding. We want to thank Congressman Emmer for continuing to lead this fight for our residents and businesses of Anoka County and the surrounding region."
