Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05) introduced legislation to award hockey legend Willie O’Ree the Congressional Gold Medal. O’Ree, who is known as the “Jackie Robinson of ice hockey,” was the first black player to compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018. The Willie O’Ree Congressional Gold Medal Act is co-lead by Reps. Ayanna Pressley (MA-07), John Katko (NY-24), and Tom Emmer (MN-06).
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) introduced legislation that would improve access to mortgages for those working in the “gig” economy, including independent contractors and the self-employed.
Those with non-traditional forms of income have long found access to mortgage products more onerous to obtain, even though these borrowers are often equally as creditworthy.

Washington, DC - Congressman Emmer (MN-06) along with his fellow co-chairs of the Congressional Blockchain Caucus have joined together to send a bipartisan letter to the IRS requesting guidance on how to report virtual currency ahead of tax day. Congressman Emmer was joined by a total of 20 of his colleagues.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) led a bipartisan letter that included 39 of his colleagues in support of funding for the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network (FRSAN). The Network was reauthorized as part of Congressman Emmer’s Stemming the Tide of Rural Economic Stress and Suicide (STRESS) Act, which was signed into law last year.

Washington, D.C. - Yesterday, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) offered an amendment to the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) to help law enforcement investigate sexual assault cases, as well as improve care and treatment for victims. The amendment passed with unanimous support
The amendment mirrored legislation introduced by Congressman Emmer, and inspired by Abby Honold, a former University of Minnesota student and rape survivor, and Officer Kevin Randolph, who helped Abby win her case against her perpetrator.
