Minnesota is home to one of the largest untapped critical mineral reserves in the world. These minerals are used in the production of airplanes, cell phones, and other items indispensable to the American economy and our national security.

As the need for these critical minerals grows, we have a very simple choice: we can either mine these minerals safely and responsibly here in the United States, or remain reliant on countries like China and Russia.

Emmer said, “Literacy in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) has never been more important. These skills will be essential to our young people as they continue their education and begin careers, regardless of discipline.”

Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) announced his participation as Co-Chair of Congressional Startup Day, which provides an opportunity to connect startup entrepreneurs with policymakers.

In 2021, there were 32.5 million startups and small businesses in the United States, making up over 99% of U.S. businesses. These firms employed more than 61.2 million Americans, with three million of those jobs coming from startups under a year old.

Washington, D.C.— Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) announced the Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act 2.0, which he cosponsored, has passed the House. The bill is named for Gabriella Miller, who tragically passed away in 2013 at the age of ten with an inoperable brain tumor.

“As a father, the pain of losing a child is unimaginable. As someone who has lost a loved one to cancer, the need for further investment to find a cure remains a personal mission,” Emmer said.

Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) led a letter to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel regarding the significant regulatory fee increase on broadcasters for Fiscal Year 2022. 

Emmer is the co-founder and Chair of the Congressional Broadcasters Caucus. 

Emmer said, “Our broadcasters provide an essential and free service to the public. This unjustified fee increase is appalling and out-of-step with regulatory costs for any other industry under the FCC’s jurisdiction.”
