Otsego, M.N. – Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) visited the 133^rd Airlift Wing, a unit of the Minnesota Air National Guard stationed at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Joint Air Reserve Station.

“Minnesotans are safer and America is more secure thanks to the dedication and bravery of the 133^rd Airlift Wing,” Emmer said. “We must ensure that they have the mission and resources necessary to continue their important work.”

The Air National Guard performs approximately half of the Air Force’s tactical airlift mission. The tactical airlift mission ensures safe and effective transportation of service members, equipment, and supplies in support of combat operations and humanitarian and disaster relief missions. The 133rd Airlift Wing has also repeatedly deployed overseas in support of U.S. operations around the globe.

Background

Emmer has been a longtime advocate for the C-130 mission of the 133^rd Airlift Wing. When the United States Air Force proposed deep reductions of their C-130 fleet between the fiscal years 2020 and 2025, Emmer led efforts in 2020 and 2021 to oppose this plan.
