Washington, D.C. - Today, Task Force on Financial Technology Ranking Member Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) called for the creation of a Subcommittee on the House Financial Services Committee dedicated to examining and supporting new financial technologies. This virtual hearing focused on the importance of simplifying regulations and promoting clarity to ensure Americans can utilize new technologies to improve their financial future. He also spoke in support of the recent introduction of the Securities Clarity Act.

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) introduced the Safe Teachers Assistance and Return To School (STARTS) Act to assist educators who have returned to the workplace for in-person teaching. The legislation increases and extends the educator expense deduction for teachers purchasing personal protective equipment (PPE) out-of-pocket.

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) introduced the Securities Clarity Act to provide a path to regulatory certainty for digital assets and other emerging technologies under securities law. He is joined by Representative Mike Conaway, Ranking Member of the House Agriculture Committee, who is introducing the Digital Commodity Exchange Act, which provides a framework for digital commodity exchanges. Representative Darren Soto, a Co-Chair of the Blockchain Caucus, has co-sponsored both measures.

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) and Congressman Jim McGovern (MA-02) sent a letter to leadership of the Senate and House Armed Services Committees urging them to include a provision which would create and issue a service medal to honor our nation’s Atomic Veterans. They were joined by 21 of their colleagues. The provision was included in the House-passed version of the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act.

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) announced the United States Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development office has invested in Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District through their Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). They have issued eight Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Loans and Grants totaling $4,563,959.

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) and Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-04), along with Congressman Jim Hagedorn (MN-01) and Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) sent a letter to United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue to request the inclusion of independent turkey farmers as eligible for relief provided by the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP).
