WASHINGTON—Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) introduced the bipartisan Securing Facilities for Mental Health Services Act. The bill is co-led by Congressman Ritchie Torres (NY-15).

The legislation would eliminate the prohibition in Section 242 of the National Housing Act that currently prohibits inpatient psychiatric hospitals from applying for mortgage assistance. Currently, these hospitals are the only type of healthcare facility prevented from accessing mortgage assistance through the Section 242 program.

In April, our office passed three bills out of the Financial Services Committee: 

  • The CFPB Dual Mandate and Economic Analysis Act prioritizes competition, consumer choice, and transparency at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) and Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Mike Bost (IL-12) hosted a roundtable discussion with Speaker Mike Johnson (LA-04) and Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs). Emmer, Bost, and Johnson affirmed their commitment to supporting our nation’s veterans and their families in a way that best meets their needs as leaders from VSOs outlined their organizations’ top priorities. The event was attended by Zimmerman veteran Keith Kiefer.

Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) spoke on the floor of the House of Representatives in memory of U.S. Air Force Major Jeffrey T. Hoernemann. 


Maj. Hoernemann, 32, of Andover was one of eight airmen killed last week when their Osprey aircraft crashed over the coast of Yakushima Island, Japan during a routine training mission. He served as a CV-22 instructor pilot and officer in charge of training. Hoernemann was assigned to the 21st Special Operations Squadron at Yokata Air Base.

WRIGHT COUNTY, M.N. – Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) announced that funding for two Wright County infrastructure projects passed the House of Representatives as part of the appropriations process for fiscal year 2024.

“This funding will ensure that safe, clean water is available in Wright County for years to come. We will continue our effort to bring taxpayer dollars home to Minnesota,” said Emmer.

CARVER COUNTY, M.N. – Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) announced that funding for a Carver County infrastructure project had passed the House of Representatives.

“This funding will ensure Minnesotans’ water is clean and represents our continued effort to invest in essential Carver County infrastructure,” said Emmer.  

$2.24 million for New Germany’s Wastewater Treatment Facility was included in the House Interior, Environment and Related Agencies appropriations bill.
