Today marks our first 100 days in office.
Representing the 6th District of Minnesota in Congress is truly an honor, and I sincerely thank you for the opportunity to serve.
Since day one, my staff and I have been transparent, accountable, and most importantly—accessible. Today, I want to share with you a few highlights from our first 100 days.
In the first three months I’ve held four town halls, two on the phone and two in-person.
We introduced two important pieces of legislation for our military veterans and transportation, and we have several more in the works.
In addition to our policy work and direct constituent contact, our staff arranged 140 tours for constituents. If you visit D.C., please reach out to Caitlin in our office and we can set one up for you too.
My casework team, Barbara and Andrew, have been successful in advocating on behalf of constituents who are trapped behind layers of red tape. Some recent successes include helping veterans and their families when problems arise with the VA; helping farmers overcome barriers with the USDA; and in a more national example, helped bring Justin Kapla home from Mongolia, after 829 days of travel bans.
As you know, we made it our priority to be on the ground and engaged throughout the district. From Forest Lake to Blaine to St. Cloud, Waconia, and all points in between, we have tried and will continue to strive to be everywhere for you.
But you may not know that in addition to my travels throughout the district, I have also visited Selma, Alabama; the U.S. installation at Guantanamo Bay—also known as Gitmo; and Africa, where we visited with farmers and saw firsthand what local authorities are doing to combat extremism.
All told, in just 100 days, my staff and I have held more than 1,100 meetings with constituents, business owners, and local officials, and we have responded in writing to more than 6,300 of your letters.
We are proud of our productive first 100 days of the 114th Congress, but I know the work is just beginning and there is much work to be done.
I look forward to continuing to work for you and our district in Washington, D.C. If I can ever be of service to you, please don’t hesitate to contact our offices.
