Washington, D.C.— Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) announced his support for a resolution led by Representative Fred Keller (PA-12) reaffirming support for American oil and natural gas production.
Emmer said, “Domestic energy is essential to America’s national security and economic prosperity. Our domestic oil and natural gas reserves are important components of an all-of-the-above energy portfolio that will reduce costs for consumers, improve the reliability of our energy supply, and make our country energy independent once again.”
Background:
Minnesotans use approximately 450 billion cubic feet of natural gas annually, heating two out of every three homes in the state. Minnesota also serves as an important corridor for the transportation of natural gas from western states and Canada to reach customers in the eastern United States. The Biden Administration has been a roadblock to domestic energy production since the President’s first day in office, halting the production of the Keystone XL pipeline, blocking oil and gas leasing, and placing burdensome regulations on the industry.
The resolution recognizes the importance of oil and natural gas as key components of a domestic production-driven all-of-the-above energy strategy.
