Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Emmer announced several efforts to address the ongoing, nationwide shortage of baby formula.

Emmer said, “Again, the American people are being forced to pay the price for the Biden Administration’s supply chain failures. Formula isn’t a luxury, it’s an absolute necessity and the sole source of nutrition for nearly a fifth of our nation’s infants.”

“No parent should have to ration formula to feed their child. President Biden owes us a plan to immediately address this crisis.” Emmer concluded.

Among his efforts to increase formula supplies, Congressman Emmer has:

  • Co-signed a letter led by Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) to President Biden and Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Robert Califf asking a variety of questions, including details on the supply on formula, the recall of certain formulas, and whether the Administration has performed outreach to pediatric hospitals;
  • Co-signed a letter led by Representative Pete Stauber (MN-08) to FDA Commissioner Califf asking when the FDA was initially aware of the formula shortage and what steps they have taken to address it.
