The Anoka-based Vista Outdoor, which includes Federal, CCI, Remington and Speer ammunition brands, announced earlier this month that they were working to donate one million rounds of ammunition to Ukrainian forces. Congressman Emmer worked directly with Vista Outdoor and Federal Premium to prioritize and expedite the transfer within various federal agencies, including the Departments of State and Commerce. This week the donation was cleared by U.S. officials and the shipment process has begun.
Congressman Emmer said, “The Ukrainian people need ammunition as they defend against ongoing, brutal Russian attacks. Our domestic industrial base, led by Federal Ammunition, has stepped up through their ammunition donation. I was proud to work with Federal in facilitating action and progress within the Executive Branch so that we can get Minnesota-made ammunition in the hands of Ukrainian forces fighting for their democracy.”
“The war in Ukraine has displaced millions of citizens and exposed average people to the horrors of war,” said Jason Vanderbrink, President of Remington, CCI, Speer and Federal Ammunition. “Supporting the effort is a crucial element of the global response and highlights the importance of American manufacturers to supply our allies with ammunition. Congressman Emmer and his staff brought together the key players in the private and public sectors to get this donation done. We appreciate their timely support and are grateful for the support this donation has generated for the cause of freedom in Ukraine.
Additionally, Congressman Emmer cosponsor to the American Ammo in Defense of Ukraine Act. This bill, led by Representative Richard Hudson (R-NC) and Representative Victoria Spartz (R-IN), would expedite the process of ammunitions donation from U.S. manufacturers into Ukraine.
