Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) announced his cosponsorship of Representative Rodney Davis’s (IL-13) Protecting Family and Small Business Tax Cuts Act. This legislation will make several individual rates and deductions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent.

Emmer said, “The relief offered by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act has been a rare bright spot for working Americans, who are now facing the highest prices in forty years due to inflation and Democrat spending.”

“We have the data to show that this legislation fulfilled its promise to put more money in the pockets of lower and middle-income families,” Emmer continued. “Now, we must ensure that these tax cuts can continue when Americans need them most.”

About his bill, Representative Davis said, “In 2017 under the leadership of President Trump we delivered the first major tax reform in 31 years and delivered on our promise to bring relief to middle-class families. We need to make the historic Trump tax cuts permanent for the millions of hardworking middle-class Americans who have benefitted from lower rates, simplified filings, and a doubling of both the standard deduction and Child Tax Credit. Making the Trump tax cuts permanent would continue to grow our economy, create new jobs, and provide certainty for families.”

Background:
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which was passed in 2017 with the support of Congressman Emmer, reduced taxes on small businesses and individuals alike and increased the standard deduction and family tax credits.

In 2019, Emmer joined President Donald Trump at a roundtable at Nuss Trucking in Burnsville, Minnesota to highlight the success of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
