Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) announced the United States Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development office has invested in Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District through their Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). They have issued eight Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Loans and Grants totaling $4,563,959.

The investments were awarded to projects in Benton County, Carver County, and Wright County. Projects in the following cities have received an investment: Albertville, Avon, Cologne, Hamburg, Mayer, New Germany, Norwood Young America, and Sauk Rapids.

"These projects are a major investment in our community. They will generate enough energy to power 456 homes in the Sixth District. I am grateful to the Administration for their attention to the needs of Minnesotans and for their support of our agriculture community and rural Americans who need renewable and reliable energy sources.” said Emmer.

The investments will be used to assist farmers, ranchers, and small businesses to develop renewable energy systems and make energy efficiency improvements to their operations.

The two largest awards assist the USS Reindeer Solar LLC in Benton County, which will generate electricity using a 1.363 MW solar system. An award to Carver County supports the USS Hancock Solar LLC, which will also generate electricity by installing a solar system in Cologne.
