Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) issued the following statement regarding the passage of H.R. 2 – the Democrat’s infrastructure package.
“Infrastructure investments have consistently been a non-partisan issue. Even today, both sides agree that our roads and bridges need improvements. However, like many bills this year, Nancy Pelosi has taken what could have been a non-partisan proposal and loaded up the $1.5 trillion proposal with green new deal wish list spending that further drives the US government into debt and saddles the repayment of that debt on the backs of our children,” said Emmer. “This effort does not solve our infrastructure needs, and instead is another issue critically important to Americans that House Democrats have refused to compromise on."
Emmer concluded, “I had hoped my Democrat colleagues would work with their Republican counterparts to craft legislation that meets the needs of both the rural and urban areas who require assistance. I hope both sides can come back to the table in good faith to address the important and ongoing deficits in both our budget, and our nation’s critical infrastructure."
