Washington, D.C. - Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) released the following statement regarding the House’s vote to fund the government for the remaining portion of fiscal year 2020:

“Today’s votes saw the advancement of several important policies. I am pleased to see funding increases for the wall and our nation's military. I am proud to have worked towards the inclusion of a full repeal of the medical device tax, the Cadillac tax, and the health insurance tax. I'm especially pleased to see full funding of the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network, as well as the protection of Minnesota's mining heritage and state authority over its own land. However, these votes on more than 2,000 pages of legislation with less than a day to review continue to add to our national debt without a plan to course correct. We cannot continue to spend now and hope future generations will fix our problems later. There are numerous provisions of both bills that I am pleased will be signed into law, yet Congress must do a better job of balancing its priorities and addressing the worsening fiscal health of our nation.”
