Funding Requested: $1,500,000
Total Project Cost: $10,000,000
Project Summary:
The proposed project would reconstruct 30th Avenue/75th Avenue (aka Town Line Road) between Stearns CSAH 4 and the south limits of the city of St. Stephen in LeSauk, St. Wendel and Brockway Townships and the city of Sartell to meet current standards for traffic levels, including 6-foot paved shoulders, right turn lanes and bypass lanes, safer roadsides and improving structural capacity to a 10-ton axle weight. The federal funding is proposed to be used for construction costs.
Background Information:
The proposed project will drastically improve the safety of this minor collector roadway that serves commuter, agricultural and school traffic (parents, teen drivers and school buses). The road top will be widened from 20 feet to 32 feet, will include more forgiving roadsides and will provide stormwater treatment in an area where none currently exists. The roadway structural capacity will improve from a 5-ton axle weight to a 10-ton axle weight to better serve roadway users. The traffic volumes along this roadway have nearly doubled since the last traffic count was taken in 2017. During that time the Sartell St. Stephen School District built its new high school along the 35th Street North corridor, which is likely the source of the additional traffic on this road. Given the increasing traffic volumes the roadway needs to be upgraded.
