Washington, D.C. – This week, the House of Representatives passed the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for fiscal year 2025. The legislation included funds for eight major infrastructure projects in the Sixth Congressional District, projects Congressman Emmer fought to secure during the government funding process. The Senate continues to work through their appropriations process.
“Our office was proud to advocate for these infrastructure projects in communities across the Sixth District,” Congressman Emmer said. "These investments will significantly improve the daily lives of Minnesotans and will drive growth throughout our district. Thank you to our local partners for their collaboration in this successful effort."
“The City of Montrose is thrilled to hear that the House of Representatives has passed the Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act that includes funding for the Montrose and Waverly Wastewater Treatment Plant regionalization. We want to send a huge thank you to Congressman Emmer and his staff for their unwavering support, and help in getting this far. The passage of this bill is a significant step for Montrose and Waverly. If we are able to secure federal funds, the funds will go towards improving our community's infrastructure that will ensure our sustainability for future growth,” said Mayor Kirby Moynagh of Montrose.
“We are excited to partner with Representative Tom Emmer’s office to bring critical infrastructure to Foley. “The City of Big Lake is a wonderful place to live and work. We’ve seen tremendous growth in the past 20 years and with growth comes the need for expanded facilities like our Wastewater Treatment Plant. “The City of Cokato would like to thank Representative Emmer’s office in funding for the City watermain extension to the Dassel Cokato High School, this project will ensure that the school will be provided a City water that meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements,” stated Cokato Mayor Carl Harju.
“On behalf of the City of Norwood Young America, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Congressman Tom Emmer for his unwavering support of our community and this region,” Norwood Young America Mayor Carol Lagergren said. “What happens in Washington, D.C., can sometimes seem far removed from our daily lives. However, having a Congressman who not only knows our community and its needs but actively works to address those needs is amazing! Investing in infrastructure for smaller cities is not just about enhancing public health and safety but also about paving the way for sustained growth and economic development. As the gateway to the Twin Cities metropolitan area, investing in and supporting growing communities such as Norwood Young America, especially along the vital Highway 212 corridor system, is crucial to the prosperity of our region and the state of Minnesota. The funding for the 2025 Norwood Young America Infrastructure Project is a significant milestone that brings us one step closer to realizing our vision for a thriving future. This 1.6-million-dollar investment not only provides relief to local taxpayers but also supports our growing community, ensuring a prosperous and sustainable future for all.”
“We are deeply grateful to Congressman Emmer for his steadfast commitment to improving our community's infrastructure," said Adam Mueller, Mayor of Gilman. "His support in securing the necessary funding and resources to move this project forward, ensuring that the health and safety needs of our residents are met, is so appreciated."
"We are extremely grateful for the House of Representatives' passage of legislation containing funding for our critical wastewater infrastructure project. We are especially appreciative of the incredible support we have received from the Office of Congressman Tom Emmer, and we are pleased to have the support of Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith as we await passage in the Senate. Projects like this require federal, state, and local investment and this news provides a great example of bi-partisan efforts to serve constituents at the grassroots level," said Laketown Township Board Chair Pete Parris.
“We are very fortunate to have the support of Congressman Emmer and his office to help obtain funding for the Rockford Wastewater Treatment Project.
