Cologne, M.N. – Today, Congressman Tom Emmer met with Carver County officials to tour the recently completed Phase 1 of the U.S. 212 Rural Freight Mobility and Safety Project and discuss construction plans for Phase 2.

“Investments in local transportation infrastructure keep Minnesotans and our state’s economy moving forward,” Emmer said.

“Our office was proud to support funding for this important project. We were pleased to see progress being made on this essential infrastructure and look forward to its completion,” Emmer concluded.

Congressman Emmer has long been a champion of local infrastructure projects and submitted Community Project Funding requests in FY2022 and FY2023 to support the US Highway 212 expansion, resulting in more than $6.5 million in Federal funding for the initiative.

Congressman Emmer attended the Carver County Highway 212 groundbreaking ceremony in April of 2021 and visited again in August of 2021 to observe the progress. Today, the Congressman toured the completed Phase 1 of the project with members of the Carver County Public Works Department and discussed the construction plans for Phase 2.
