Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) applauded the announcement of funding for the Duluth Seaway Port Authority’s 2020 Revitalization and Expansion project. The U.S. Department of Transportation announced $10.5 million in funding through the Port Infrastructure Development program. The program is designed to improve U.S. maritime ports as critical links between the U.S. and international supply chains.

After the announcement, Congressman Emmer issued the following statement:

“The Duluth Port is a critical piece of infrastructure for vital economic drivers across our state, such as manufacturing, agriculture, and mining. The funding for this project will help restore vital infrastructure, increase export capacity, and provide additional distribution support for Northern Minnesota. I applaud Congressman Stauber for his strong advocacy for the region, and Secretary Chao for investing in our State’s primary maritime logistics hub. This funding represents a commitment by the Department of Transportation to revitalize Minnesota's communities."
