Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06) announced his participation as Co-Chair of Congressional Startup Day, which provides an opportunity to connect startup entrepreneurs with policymakers.

In 2021, there were 32.5 million startups and small businesses in the United States, making up over 99% of U.S. businesses. These firms employed more than 61.2 million Americans, with three million of those jobs coming from startups under a year old.

“Startups are an engine of innovation and opportunity, and their success has made America a global technology leader," said Emmer. “I am proud to serve as a Co-Chair of Congressional Startup Day and give a voice in Congress to the startup ecosystem.”

Emmer has been a longtime advocate for startups. In November, he re-introduced the Main Street Growth Act, which would allow for the creation of specialized securities exchanges to improve access to capital for emerging growth companies. You can read more about the Main Street Growth Act here.
