WASHINGTON— Today, the House of Representatives passed six appropriations bills for fiscal year 2024. The package funds twelve major infrastructure projects for roadways and water treatment in the Sixth Congressional District, priorities Congressman Emmer fought for during the government funding process. The legislation now moves to the Senate before being signed into law.

“We are proud to help secure these wins for the Sixth District,” said Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06). “Between investments in water treatment and safe roadways, this funding will tangibly improve the daily lives of Minnesotans and support growth across the Sixth District. Thank you to our cities and counties for their partnership in this successful effort.”  

Becker Mayor Tracy Bertram said, “The City of Becker is grateful to Rep. Emmer for his effort in the House to secure $3.85 million to improve the intersection of US Hwy 10 and MN Hwy 25 in Becker.  These funds will help ensure that the improvements enhance safety, expand access to the city’s industrial park, and provide a safe pedestrian crossing at this intersection.”

Blaine Mayor Tim Sanders said, “Today’s bill includes substantial investments in the infrastructure that Blaine residents use every day. These improvements to Highway 65 will allow drivers to travel more efficiently, all while protecting the safety of pedestrians and cyclists. We are grateful for Representative Emmer’s ongoing work to ensure that Blaine infrastructure projects receive federal support.”

“Expanding and improving our wastewater treatment infrastructure is critical for the growth of our city.  This funding will enhance economic development within the city and will positively impact the community debt service and future of this growing small community.  By improving our wastewater system this funding will also help ensure the safety of our community and benefit the environment. On behalf of the City of New Germany we are grateful to Congressman Emmer for his leadership and for being a valued partner in supporting the need for growth and development in New Germany and improving water quality,” said Mayor Shirley Jaeger of New Germany.

Mayor Keith Wettschreck of St. Michael said, “The taxpayers of St. Michael, as well as the surrounding communities served by our Regional Waste Water Treatment Plant, are incredibly grateful to Congressman Emmer for securing a $2,238,806 Federal Clean Water Appropriation to help fund critical waste water improvements needed to meet increased regulatory requirements and improve the water quality of our downstream rivers.”

“The City of Clearwater has been working together with MnDOT to create a safer, multi-use traffic corridor through the city and over Interstate 94 for several years,” said Mayor Andrea Lawrence of Clearwater. “This issue is one reason why I ran for City Council. The $3 million earmarked from the appropriations bill will help make travel through our community safer; including for pedestrians, bicyclists, and local vehicle traffic, while allowing our commercial growth as a transportation hub to continue. It will also make the journey both quicker and less dangerous for our numerous visitors who use Clearwater as the gateway to the north.”

Otsego City Administrator and Finance Director said, “Mayor Stockamp commented that the award of Congressionally Directed Spending to the City of Otsego for the Drinking Water Treatment Improvement Project will provide for a significant benefit to the community. The Project will improve the quality of drinking water by removing contaminants such as radium, manganese, and iron. The funding award allows the City to initiate the Project without burdening the community with increased fees and continue towards providing the residents and businesses of Otsego with high quality drinking water!”

Mayor Elise Ryan of Chanhassen said, “Community Project Funding (CPF) allows Congress to fund projects that make a real difference in constituents' lives. Funding for Highway 5 in Chanhassen and Victoria will address safety, ease congestion, improve the environmental connection, enhance multi-modal infrastructure, and promote continued growth in our area. This road currently has a crash rate of an unacceptable 2.5 times the state average. We thank Representative Tom Emmer and Congress for supporting this needed improvement.”

“The 15th Street North connection will be critically important to the future growth of our community and for access to those who live within the region. If not for Rep Emmer’s support of this project we would not be able to develop this important regional corridor,” said Sartell Mayor Ryan Fitzthum.  

“This is amazing news!” said Sherburne County Commissioner and 2024 Board Chair Gregg Felber. “With receipt of this $7M in Congressionally Directed Spending, the overpass and interchange improvement project at U.S. Highway 169 and County Road 4 should be fully funded. This means construction can start soon and, with that, additional risk to Minnesotans traveling these roadways can be greatly reduced.”

“After more than a decade of work and preparation, the Zimmerman community – indeed, all of Central Minnesota – can now see this critically needed safety and accessibility improvement project completed,” shared Sherburne County Commissioner Lisa Fobbe. “This has been my District’s and Sherburne County’s top infrastructure priority for many years. I would like to thank Congressman Emmer and Senators Klobuchar and Smith, as well as their amazing staff, for helping us improve the lives and livelihood of so many Minnesotans.”

Mayor Richard Miller of Waite Park said, “The J-turn at Bel Clare Drive is a significant step towards enhancing highway safety within the City of Waite Park. This project addresses the pressing need for improved traffic flow and reduced accident rates at this key intersection, ultimately contributing to the overall safety and well-being of our community. As we move forward with the implementation of the J-turn at Bel Clare Drive, the City of Waite Park remains committed to prioritizing highway safety. We thank Congressman Emmer for advocating for this project. It demonstrates the positive outcomes that can be achieved through collaboration between local, state and federal representatives, highlighting the importance of investing in infrastructure for the benefit of the entire community.” 

The legislation includes:

• $4 million to the State of Minnesota for Minnesota Trunk Highway 65 at 117th Avenue – Grades Separated Intersection Project.
• $7 million to the State of Minnesota for the Highway 5 Mobility Project.
• $3.85 million to the State of Minnesota for the U.S. Highway 10/MN Highway 25/County Road 53 intersection improvements.
• $7 million to the State of Minnesota for the U.S. Highway 169/CR 4 Rural Safety and Mobility Interchange Project.
• $3 million to the State of Minnesota for the Interstate 94 and Trunk Highway 24 Improvements Project.
• $1.02 million to the State of Minnesota for the CSAH 19 & CR 117 intersection improvements.
• $2.15 million to the State of Minnesota for the 15th Street North Regional Corridor Expansion Project.
• $1.2 million to the State of Minnesota for the J-Turn at Bel Clare Drive in Waite Park.
• $5 million to the State of Minnesota for the Highway 29 Extension.
• $1.52 million for Otsego, MN, for the Drinking Water Treatment Facility Improvements project.
• $2.24 million for New Germany, MN, for the Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements project.
• $2.24 million for St. Michael, MN, for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades project.
