Funding Requested: $2,000,000

Total Project Cost: $12,716,000

Project Summary:

Significant utility system deficiencies in the City of Gilman have elevated health and safety risks for residents. Gilman’s existing wastewater infrastructure needs repair or replacement due to age and condition as well as health and safety concerns. Gilman’s project includes replacing selected portions of the wastewater collection system and extending the system to provide service for several new users, and improvements to the existing wastewater pond system. The proposed project also includes improvements to an area that floods north of CSAH 5 and existing stormwater system, as well as adding new storm sewer for new users.

Background Information:

The improved public health, environmental protection, cost savings, regulatory compliance, economic growth, and enhanced quality of life are all benefits of this project. These system upgrades will eliminate the health and safety risks associated with wastewater infrastructure failures and provide the residents and business of Gilman with a safe and sustainable sanitary sewer system. These investments will yield significant benefits not only for Gilman but also the broader region. This project will provide economic development benefits but also improve the quality of life for area residents, the environmental sustainability, and the innovative measures to provide much needed infrastructure. With substantial investment committed by the City of Gilman, along with Benton County, it is pivotal to prioritize this project to align with additional county transportation projects within the community.
