Funding Requested: $1,500,000
Total Project Cost: $2,000,000
Project Summary:
The proposed project involves reconstruction of a three-legged intersection at CSAH 19/109th Ave and CSAH 123/Rosedale Ave into a three-legged single roundabout near to the only road crossing over the Crow River for several miles in either direction. The project will provide not only crucial highway transportation safety improvements also allowing our first responders to get to where they are needed during emergencies, but also will provide for pedestrian connection from the southern portions of the Hanover community across the bridge to the elementary school, downtown, church, daycare and businesses.
Background Information:
Development along the CSAH 19 corridor through both Wright and Hennepin Counties is resulting in a substantial increase of traffic on CSAH 19 through our community. Volumes on the Hennepin County side are exceeding their design capacity. Due to increased traffic which is projected to continue to grow for the foreseeable future, Wright County and the City of Hanover are investing in improvements on CSAH 19 on the Wright County side of the community in 2024 and 2025 to add medians, add traffic lanes, add roundabouts and improve pedestrian crossings. Residential neighborhoods accessing from the south have challenge accessing the road which will not be solved unless an improvement project is completed at the 19/123 intersection. There was also a fatal crash in this area in recent years contributing to ongoing safety concerns.
