City of Nowthen’s 185th and Jasper Street Road Reconstruction Project

Funding Requested: $1,700,000

Total Project Cost: $2,180,750

Project Summary:

This project will address severe road issues within the City of Nowthen. The proposed solution is to widen the road top to allow for easier access and reliability. The road will be constructed to a 10-Ton standard and will provide an upgraded alternate route from CSAH 5 to CSAH 22. There are existing farmsteads along this route, and the proposed upgrade will significantly increase safety by allowing the large farm equipment to utilize the shoulder and in-slopes when meeting oncoming traffic.

Background Information:

The existing roads in the City of Nowthen are deficient in width, safety, and axle weight limit. The existing surfaces range in width and lack adequate shoulders to provide safe access to pedestrians, farmers, and regular travelers. The road surface is failing and has exceeded its useful life. This project will provide increased safety farm vehicles, an alternate route to CSAH 22/CSAH 5, and a 10-Ton axle limit.
