City of Mayer Wastewater Treatment Facility Phase 1 Improvements

Funding Requested: $5,000,000

Total Project Cost: $12,767,250

Project Summary:

This project would complete phase 1 improvements to the city’s 25 year old wastewater treatment facility to achieve compliance with new permitting requirements and support projected growth. The project includes construction of a new 1.1 million gallon biosolids storage tank and loadout system, rehabilitation of the lift station, replacement of the aging disinfection system, and electrical upgrades. Upgrading aging infrastructure reduces maintenance costs, improves public health, and supports economic growth by enabling new developments and increased capacity.

Background Information:

The Mayer Wastewater Treatment Facility, originally constructed in 1999, is now over 25 years old and faces critical infrastructure challenges. The existing biosolids storage consists of repurposed tanks with only about 177,000 gallons of capacity, far below what is required to meet the current need. Without these upgrades, the city risks permit violations, treatment failures, and inability to accommodate new development to support community growth.
