Funding Requested: $4,000,000

Total Project Cost: $24,600,000

Project Summary:

Replacing existing 201 Community Sewers (7 platted areas with septic tanks and lift stations located around 3 different lakes) with improved sanitary sewer with current standards and connect to additional lines for treatment.

Background Information:

Over 40 years ago, when the existing system was constructed, past boards believed the township would be developed via annexations into the cities of Chaska, Victoria, and Waconia within 20 years. That timeframe would have had envisioned those cities providing the upgraded wastewater systems to the existing users around the life expectancy (20-25 yrs) of the existing system. Laketown is now over that life cycle by several years and they cannot wait for a failure of the system - it would cause issues and impact surrounding cities and watersheds.
